The work depicts a figure completely covered in ripe pea pods looking off into the distance. The distance is a skyscape with a bird flying but it is also the corner of a room. Toyen was a painter who was often written about as a “female surrealist” artist however the artist used neither male or female gender markers--a detail that has been overlooked.
